Is it ok to skip out on my apartment lease if I'm buying a house?

My actual lease is up, and I'm renting month-to-month now. I'm supposed to give 60 days notice to vacate, but I am moving into a new house in the next 30 days. Is it important to pay the extra month and keep my rental history squeeky clean? Or does the rental history become irrelevant once I've got a house, mortgage, and equity?
