Can I use nail varnish remover on acrylic nails?

Okay let me make this VERY CLEAR. I have nail art on my acrylic nails, however I do not want to remove it. Basically i put clear varnish on and its too thick and lumpy and is squashing and looking crap. I wanna remove it but I don't want to remove my nail art.. what do I do?
