Does anyone remember this show from the 90's?

It was a children's show that I used to watch with my brother and sisters and it's driving my brother and I crazy trying to figure out what it was called. It was about scary stories but it was really weird. The storys were often told by either a slimy maggot who I think was anamatronic or some sort of puppet but he looked really gross and really slimy, or a roach. I believe they were under a child's bed. Then when they told the story the story would go into a cartoon. I believe they started the story by saying, this happened to a friend of a friend of mine. Maybe it was called friend of a friend, I am not sure but if anyone remembers please let me know asap because it is bugging everyone in my household. Thanks a bunches and good luck!
