Why can't my grandmother who has dementia not open her eyes now? She was put on Ativan and Respidal?

My grandmother who has dementia, was put into a nursing home a month ago, and has declined faster than I can even express. She is now bedridden and can't even open her eyes, but seems to hear what I say and responds by shaking her head. She acts like she is heavily sedated. She was on .05 ativan and .05 respidal twice a day. I recently got the Dr to take her off the ativan, thinking that was the cause of her "zombie" like state. She was just taken off of it yesterday, but still no change. Any advice would be helpful.
